Cesar Principe, 2011 Cesar Principe
This wine….. Cigales falls in the shadow of the more well known Ribera del Duero nearby. The full bodied red over delivers on the price. In a delicious spot, with a few more years of optimal drinking to go.
One of the flagship producers of the Cigales region, it is not about high-tech winemaking, but low-tech and hands-on, employing methods and techniques his family had been using for centuries. The result was a superbly intense, deeply colored and complex wine. With 60 year old vines and wonderful terroir, showing the Tempranillo grape into beautifully crafted wines that can easily stand as some of the greatest wines of neighborhood areas.
